Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar addressed a two-day national conference in New Delhi focusing on the use of AI/ML technologies in the power distribution sector. He highlighted that AI/ML-based solutions, including smart meter analytics, predictive maintenance, and theft detection intelligence, will play a pivotal role in building intelligent, consumer-centric, self-optimizing distribution networks in India. The India — Ministry of Power, led by Secretary Pankaj K. Agarwal, is committed to strengthening digitalization across DISCOMs. During the conference, 195 applications for innovative solutions were received, with 51 shortlisted and winners declared in various categories, including Tata Power, Apraava Energy, Pravah, Flock Energy, TNPDCL (Tamil Nadu), and MP East (India — Madhya Pradesh). Manohar Lal Khattar also launched STELLAR, developed by the India — Central Electricity Authority, to empower DISCOMs in resource adequacy studies. The India Smart Grid Forum presented a handbook on AI, ML, AR/VR, and Robotics Solutions, outlining 174 use cases.
