British Photographer Martin Parr Dies

Martin Parr, a renowned British documentary photographer, died at his home in Bristol at the age of 73. His death was announced by Queen Mary of Denmark, which stated that he had been diagnosed with myeloma, a type of blood cancer. Martin Parr was celebrated for his distinctive, color-saturated images that captured various aspects of British life and consumer culture, often with a satirical and critical eye. His work, which sometimes sparked controversy, is held in major museums globally, including the Tate, Museum of Modern Art, and Centre Pompidou. Martin Parr was a member of Magnum Photos since 1994 and served as its president from 2014 to 2017. Both Magnum Photos and Queen Mary of Denmark will collaborate to preserve and share his extensive legacy. He was inspired by his grandfather to pursue photography and continued working into his 70s, publishing numerous photobooks and staging international exhibitions.
