Trump: Zelenskyy Not Ready for Peace Deal

US President Donald Trump has stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not ready to accept a US-authored peace proposal aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine war, despite three days of talks between US and Ukrainian negotiators. Donald Trump expressed disappointment that Volodymyr Zelenskyy had not yet read the proposal, claiming that 'His people love it, but he hasn't.' While Donald Trump believes Russia is 'fine with it,' Russian President Vladimir Putin has publicly stated that some aspects of the proposal are unworkable, even though earlier drafts favored Moscow. Donald Trump has consistently urged Ukraine to cede land to Russia to end the nearly four-year conflict. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, however, affirmed Ukraine's determination to work in good faith for peace after a 'substantive phone call' with American officials. Meanwhile, Russia, through its spokesman Dmitry Peskov, welcomed the Donald Trump administration's new national security strategy, which aims to improve US-Russia relations and reestablish strategic stability. The document also criticized European countries. Keith Kellogg, Donald Trump's outgoing Ukraine envoy, indicated that the peace efforts are in the 'last 10 metres,' with key outstanding issues being the territory of Donbas and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Concurrently, Russia continues its attacks on Ukraine, causing casualties and infrastructure damage, particularly targeting the power grid. Leaders from the United Kingdom, France, and Germany are scheduled to meet with Volodymyr Zelenskyy in London to discuss the ongoing situation.
