Son Heung-min Blackmailer Jailed

A woman identified as Yang has been sentenced to four years in prison by the South Korea — Seoul Central District Court in South Korea for blackmailing football star Son Heung-min. Yang extorted 300 million won from Son Heung-min in 2024 by falsely claiming she was pregnant with his child and threatening to go public with the information. She later conspired with a man named Yong to attempt to extort an additional 70 million won. Son Heung-min, who played for Tottenham Hotspur F.C. at the time of the initial blackmail and later joined Los Angeles FC, reported the incident to the authorities. Yong, who confessed to his role, received a two-year prison sentence. The court found Yang's claims inconsistent and her actions to tarnish Son Heung-min's reputation as 'extreme measures'.
