Bolivia and Israel Restore Diplomatic Ties

Bolivia's new right-wing government, led by President Rodrigo Pinto, has restored diplomatic relations with Israel, reversing a previous decision by the Trinidad and Tobago — Movement for Social Justice (MAS) party. Bolivian Foreign Minister Fernando Aramayo and Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa ar signed a declaration in Washington to revive bilateral ties, which had been severed two years ago by Bolivia's previous left-wing government over Israel's campaign against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. This move is part of a new foreign policy strategy by Bolivia aimed at rebuilding its international prestige, opening new economic opportunities, and strengthening alliances, particularly with the United States. The previous MAS governments under Diego Morales and Luis Arce had pursued anti-Western policies and cut ties with Israel. The restoration of relations includes plans to reinstate ambassadors and dispatch officials on visits, and Bolivia has already eased visa restrictions for American and Israeli travelers.
