The India — National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development's (India — National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) Rural Economic Conditions and Sentiments Survey (RECSS) revealed a significant strengthening of the rural economy in India between September 2024 and November 2025. Approximately 80% of rural households reported higher consumption, with 67.3% of monthly income now spent on consumption, driven by Goods and Services Tax (India) rate rationalisation. Income growth was experienced by 42.2% of rural households, the highest since the survey's inception, and 75.9% expect incomes to rise next year. Rural investment activity also picked up, with 29.3% of households increasing capital investment. Access to formal credit sources reached 58.3%, the highest recorded. Inflation perceptions moderated to 3.77%, enhancing real income and purchasing power.
