The India — National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary chargesheet against Kovai Arabic Educational Association (KAEA), a registered society, and seven individuals in the 2023 Tamil Nadu ISIS radicalisation and recruitment case. The KAEA and the accused are charged under various sections of the IPC and UA(P) Act. This case stems from the October 2022 Coimbatore car-bomb blast, where many accused were students of Kovai Arabic College, run by KAEA. The NIA's investigation revealed that an Islamic State-inspired group used free Arabic language classes, both online and in classrooms, to radicalise and incite vulnerable youth into terrorist acts. Jameel Basha, the principal of Madras Arabic College, whose lectures were used for radical sermons, was previously chargesheeted. The seven individuals named in the supplementary chargesheet are Mohammed Hussain, Irshath, Ahmed Ali, Abu Hanifa, Jawahar Sadiq, Sheikh Dawood, and Raja Muhammad, all students of Jameel Basha. Mohammed Hussain and Irshath were also in the original chargesheet and now face additional sections. The NIA continues its investigation to dismantle the terror radicalisation network.
