Wema Bank has announced a N120 million prize pool for the Hackaholics 6.0 Grand Finale, following the selection of 35 finalist teams from regional pitch sessions held across seven Nigerian cities. The competition, which attracted 1,460 participants, aims to foster technology and innovation among Nigerian youth. Moruf Oseni, MD/CEO of Wema Bank, confirmed the prize distribution across Ideathon and Hackathon categories, including N5 million each for two women-led innovations. The finalists, including teams like Tensor (Medugu Wali) and Chao (Akobundu Gift), emerged from over 1,000 applications across eight pitch centers, including Babcock University and Veritas University. Wema Bank's Hackaholics program, launched in 2019, has disbursed over $300,000 in funding and support, with N75 million awarded to women-led teams between 2023 and 2024. The bank also provides ongoing support through its Hackaholics Accelerator and Collective Program. The Grand Finale in Lagos will gather industry leaders, policymakers, and investors to showcase Nigeria's next generation of transformative founders.
