Celine Cremer's Phone Found in Tasmania

Céline Cremer, a 31-year-old Belgian backpacker, went missing in June 2023 near Philosopher Falls, Thylacine. Despite extensive initial searches, no trace of her was found until recently. On Saturday, December 13, 2025, a private search party, including friends from Belgium and volunteers, discovered her mobile phone in an area previously searched. The phone's data and location support the theory that Céline Cremer may have left the main track to take a direct route back to her car, dropped her phone, and became disoriented. Following this discovery, Tasmania — Tasmania Police formally joined the independent search effort, deploying trained search and rescue officers and Australia — State Emergency Service volunteers. The search was temporarily postponed due to adverse weather conditions. The discovery has provided some hope for Céline Cremer's family, though it also serves as a reminder of their loss.
