Kashmir Cold Wave and Forecast

Kashmir is experiencing a persistent cold wave with minimum temperatures remaining below freezing point across many areas, including India — Srinagar, India — Qazigund, India — Kupwara, India — Pahalgam, India — Pulwama district, and India — Shopian. The dry weather has led to an increase in common ailments like cough and cold, prompting doctors to advise precautions, especially for children and the elderly. The meteorological department forecasts very light snowfall in isolated higher reaches from December 13-17, and light rain/snow at scattered places on December 20-21, coinciding with the onset of 'Chillai Kalan', the harshest winter period. Fog is also expected to persist in many parts of the valley.
