Sudan Kordofan Mass Displacement

Over 1,200 people have been newly displaced from South and North Kordofan in Sudan due to escalating insecurity. This displacement is a direct result of intensified clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, which began in April 2023. The International Organization for Migration reported that between December 11 and 13, 900 individuals fled South Kordofan, with an additional 650 displaced by December 17. The South Sudan — Sudan People s Liberation Movement is also allied with the Rapid Support Forces, further exacerbating the conflict. The violence has led to thousands of deaths and millions displaced across Sudan, with the Rapid Support Forces controlling much of the Darfur region and the Sudanese Armed Forces holding most of the remaining states, including Khartoum. The humanitarian situation remains highly volatile and tense.
