ServiceNow Acquires Armis for $7.75 Billion

ServiceNow has agreed to acquire cybersecurity startup Armis Security for $7.75 billion in cash. This acquisition is ServiceNow's largest to date and aims to integrate Armis Security's security features, such as device scanning, threat detection, and vulnerability prioritization, into ServiceNow's AI-powered platform. The move comes amid a surge in sophisticated cyberattacks, impacting companies like Microsoft and UnitedHealth Group, and is intended to attract new customers. ServiceNow's shares initially dropped by nearly 12% on December 15 following reports of the potential deal, wiping off approximately $20 billion from its market value, indicating investor concerns about hefty spending. Armis Security, founded in 2015 and valued at $6.1 billion in a November funding round led by Goldman Sachs and participated in by CapitalG, was preparing for an initial public offering. The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2026, pending regulatory approvals. This acquisition follows other recent purchases by ServiceNow, including Moveworks for $2.85 billion, Logik.ai for $506 million, and Blaj, as the company expands its customer relationship management, AI, and security capabilities. The cybersecurity sector has seen a trend of acquisitions, with other notable deals including Alphabet Inc.'s agreement to acquire Wiz, Inc. for $32 billion and Palo Alto Networks' purchase of CyberArk Ltd. for about $25 billion.
