Bello Turji Denies Zamfara Bribery

Bello Turji, a notorious bandit leader, has publicly denied allegations that he received N30 million and vehicles from the Nigeria — Zamfara State Government during peace negotiations under former Governor Bello Matawalle. These claims were made by Musa Kamarawa, a former peace mediator. Bello Turji insisted that while peace talks did occur to reduce violence, no financial or material benefits were exchanged. He accused Musa Kamarawa of betrayal and spreading false information. Furthermore, Bello Turji blamed former governors Attahiru Bafarawa of Nigeria — Sokoto State and Ahmad Sani Yerima of Nigeria — Zamfara State for exacerbating insecurity by arming vigilante groups. Residents of Nigeria — Sokoto State have expressed concern that the ongoing accusations are politicizing insecurity ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning of further destabilization in the North-West region of Nigeria.
