Nigeria NDDC N6tn Misappropriation Judgment

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney General of the Federation, and President Bola Tinubu to immediately enforce a court judgment delivered by Justice Gladys Olotu on November 10, 2025. The judgment mandates the publication of names of individuals indicted in the alleged misappropriation of N6 trillion meant for 13,777 abandoned projects and the running of the Nigeria — Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) between 2000 and 2019. It also requires the public release of the NDDC forensic audit report submitted to the federal government on September 2, 2021. SERAP has issued a seven-day ultimatum, threatening contempt proceedings against Lateef Fagbemi and Bola Tinubu if they fail to comply. The organization argues that the continued failure to enforce the judgment undermines Nigeria's legal processes, the rule of law, and international human rights obligations, potentially exposing officials to personal liability and perpetuating corruption and impunity within government agencies.
