Delhi Police Busts Counterfeit Drug Racket

India — Delhi Police's Crime Branch busted a major interstate racket involved in the manufacturing, repackaging, and nationwide sale of spurious Schedule-H medicines. The operation led to the arrest of two individuals, Gaurav Bhagat and Rama (alias Vishal Gupta), and the seizure of counterfeit drugs and raw materials worth over ₹2.3 crore. A manufacturing unit in Meerpur Hindu village, Loni, Ghaziabad, was located and raided, where large quantities of fake Betnovate-C, Clop-G, and Skin-Shine ointments, along with chemicals and manufacturing equipment, were recovered. Drug inspectors from Delhi and India — Uttar Pradesh, along with representatives of pharmaceutical companies, confirmed the medicines were counterfeit and that the accused operated without valid licenses. The spurious drugs posed a serious risk to public health, being sold as genuine branded products for treating skin infections, allergies, and sports-related injuries. Further investigations are underway to dismantle the entire supply chain.
