Najeem Salaam ADC Osun Candidacy

Najeem Salaam, a former Speaker of the Nigeria — Osun State Assembly, has been elected as the Nigeria — African Democratic Congress candidate for the 2026 Osun governorship election. The primary election was held at the Ultimate Civic Centre in Osogbo, where Najeem Salaam was the sole aspirant and secured 520 valid votes out of 528 cast by delegates. Emeka Nwajiuba, Chairman of the Nigeria — African Democratic Congress 2026 Primary Election Committee, announced Najeem Salaam as the flag bearer. Najeem Salaam accepted the mandate, expressing a deep sense of responsibility and outlining plans to prioritize workers' welfare, revive education, empower youths, strengthen security, and promote local enterprise if elected. The Nigeria — Independent National Electoral Commission had previously directed parties to submit their candidates' names by December 15 for the 2026 Osun governorship poll. Other candidates for the election include Ademola Adeleke for the Nigeria — Accord Party and Bola Oyebamiji for the Nigeria — All Progressives Congress.
