Nigeria Reps Intervene Dangote-NMDPRA Feud

A significant dispute has erupted between Dangote Petroleum Refinery, led by Aliko Dangote, and the Nigeria — Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), headed by Farouk Ahmed. Aliko Dangote has publicly accused Farouk Ahmed of corruption, alleging that he spent $5 million on his children's secondary education in Switzerland, an amount deemed inconsistent with a public servant's income. The Nigeria — House of Representatives (Nigeria) Joint Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream and Midstream) has intervened, summoning both parties for an emergency meeting to address the grievances and allegations. The committee has also urged both Dangote Petroleum Refinery and the Nigeria — Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to cease all media hostilities while legislative investigations into critical industry concerns, including import licenses and domestic refining capacity, are underway. This intervention aims to stabilize Nigeria's downstream petroleum sector, which has recently achieved fragile stability in the post-subsidy era.
