Ventura Foods Recalls Contaminated Dressings

Ventura Foods has initiated a recall of 3,556 cases of salad dressings and 700 cases of BBQ sauce across 27 states in the United States, and one customer in Costa Rica. The recall was prompted by the discovery of 'black plastic planting material' in the granulated onion ingredient used in these products. The United States — Food and Drug Administration classified this as a Class II recall, indicating that the products may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. Retailers such as Costco and Publix received the affected products, with Costco issuing a specific recall notice for its Caesar Salad and Chicken Sandwich w/ Caesar Salad items. While some Ranch dressing products manufactured by Ventura Foods were included in the recall, Ranch dressing clarified that these were professional-grade products intended for food service and not distributed to consumers.
