Cambodia and Thailand have agreed to attend a special ASEAN Foreign Ministers meeting on December 22 in Malaysia — Kuala Lumpur High Court, initiated by Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. The meeting aims to de-escalate ongoing border skirmishes between Cambodia and Thailand, which resumed despite the signing of the Malaysia — Kuala Lumpur High Court Peace Accord in October. Thailand had suspended the accord in November after its soldiers were wounded by landmines. Anwar Ibrahim has been in communication with both prime ministers and United States President Donald Trump to facilitate a truce and prevent further escalation. Both Cambodia and Thailand have also agreed to the deployment of an ASEAN Observers Team to the border.
