Son Murders Parents Over Alimony

Ambesh, an engineer, was arrested in India — Hapur district, India — Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly murdering his parents, Shyam Bahadur and Babita. The motive stemmed from a long-standing family dispute over Ambesh's marriage to a Muslim woman, whom his parents refused to accept. Although Ambesh and his wife later decided to separate, he needed ₹5 lakh for alimony. When Shyam Bahadur refused to provide the money, an argument escalated into violence on December 8. Ambesh allegedly struck Babita with a sil batta and then repeatedly hit Shyam Bahadur, leading to their deaths. Following the murders, Ambesh dismembered their bodies with a saw, packed the remains into sacks, and dumped them in a nearby river. He then called his sister, Vandana, claiming their parents had left home after an argument and that he was searching for them, before switching off his phone. Vandana filed a missing persons complaint on December 13. Police traced and detained Ambesh, who eventually confessed to the crime. Authorities have recovered a portion of Shyam Bahadur's remains, the saw, and the grinding stone, and are continuing the search for the remaining body parts.
