Canada Pistachio Salmonella Outbreak Recall

The Canada — Canadian Food Inspection Agency has expanded its national recall for pistachio and pistachio-containing products due to a persistent Salmonellosis outbreak across Canada. As of December 30, 314 products have been recalled, with 155 laboratory-confirmed illnesses and 24 hospitalizations reported by the Canada — Public Health Agency of Canada since March. The outbreak has affected residents in multiple Canadian provinces. The Canada — Canadian Food Inspection Agency has also implemented preventive measures, including a temporary ban on imports of pistachios and pistachio-containing products from Iran, which has been linked to some contamination. Federally licensed importers and manufacturers with Iranian pistachios imported before September 27 are now required to hold and test them for Salmonellosis before sale in Canada. Consumers are advised to discard or return recalled products and contact healthcare providers if they experience symptoms.
