Nigeria Police Festive Security Deployment

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the strategic deployment of police personnel and operational assets across Nigeria to ensure a safe, peaceful, and crime-free Christmas and New Year celebration. This initiative, part of the Nigeria — Nigeria Police Force's proactive security strategy, involves intensifying patrols, visibility policing, intelligence-led operations, and community engagement. Specialized units such as the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Command have been placed on heightened operational readiness. The deployment focuses on high-density public spaces, including places of worship, recreational centers, markets, parks, event venues, transport terminals, highways, and critical national infrastructure. Additional patrol teams and surveillance units have been activated to cover inter-state routes and major expressways to prevent road-related crimes, traffic disorder, and accidents. Kayode Egbetokun also ordered all commands to sustain raids on identified black spots and criminal hideouts, and to strengthen collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders for holistic security coverage. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant, celebrate responsibly, and report suspicious activities.
