Joash Amupitan receives University of Jos award

Professor Joash Amupitan, Chairman of the Nigeria — Independent National Electoral Commission, was conferred with the prestigious 'Great Ambassador of the University of Jos' award. The award was presented during the University of Jos's 50th Alumni Anniversary and combined 35th and 36th Convocation Ceremony on December 12, 2025. The federal government of Nigeria, through a letter signed by George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, congratulated Joash Amupitan, describing the honor as a testament to his lifelong dedication to academic excellence, legal scholarship, and selfless national service. The government also highlighted Joash Amupitan's contributions to strengthening Nigeria's electoral process and his values of professionalism, accountability, and patriotism. Joash Amupitan is an alumnus of the University of Jos, where he earned his LL.B., LL.M., and Ph.D. in Law, and later became a Professor of Law. He was also elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2014 and held various administrative positions, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Jos and Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of Council at Joseph Ayo Babalola University.
