The Gujarat — Government of Gujarat has significantly eased liquor consumption rules at International Finance Corporation (GIFT City), a global finance center. As per a December 20 notification, individuals from outside India — Gujarat or foreign nationals can now consume alcohol at designated hotels and restaurants within International Finance Corporation by simply showing a valid photo ID, eliminating the previous requirement for temporary permits. Additionally, liquor consumption is now permitted in expanded areas such as lawns, poolside, and terraces, beyond just designated wine and dine areas. Employees of International Finance Corporation with a 'Liquor Access Permit' can also host up to 25 visitors, who will receive temporary permits if accompanied by the host. This move aims to make International Finance Corporation more appealing to international businesses and visitors, despite India — Gujarat being a 'dry' state.
