Rare Abdominal Pregnancy and Birth

Suze Lopez, a 41-year-old nurse, gave birth to her son, Ryu, after an extremely rare abdominal pregnancy. The fetus developed outside her uterus, hidden by a basketball-sized ovarian cyst. Lopez was unaware of her pregnancy until days before giving birth, mistaking her growing belly for an enlarging cyst. The delivery, which occurred at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, involved significant blood loss for Lopez, but both she and Ryu recovered well. Doctors plan to document this case due to its rarity, with such full-term abdominal pregnancies being less than 1 in a million.
