Poland Builds Anti-Drone Wall

Poland has announced plans to construct a new anti-drone fortification system along its eastern border, costing over €2 billion, in response to repeated incursions by suspected Russian drones. Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk stated that initial capabilities would be operational within six months, with full completion expected in two years. The multi-layered defense system will integrate modern technologies like drone-jamming systems with traditional weaponry. Most of the funding will come from European Union sources through the SAFE defense loan program, supplemented by Poland's state budget. This initiative is part of Poland's broader efforts to strengthen its security amid ongoing concerns about Russia's hybrid operations and potential military threats, especially given the conflict in Ukraine. Poland has also increased its defense spending to 4.7% of GDP and is fortifying its land borders with Belarus and Russia — Leningrad Oblast.
