Budaun Villagers Rabies Vaccination Scare

Nearly 200 residents of Piprauli village in India — Budaun, India — Uttar Pradesh, received precautionary anti-rabies vaccinations after consuming raita made from the milk of a buffalo that died with suspected rabies symptoms. The buffalo had been bitten by a dog days earlier. Chief Medical Officer Rameshwar Mishra confirmed the vaccination drive was a preventive measure, despite the low risk of rabies transmission through boiled milk. The Ujhani Community Health Centre remained open over the weekend to accommodate the villagers, and the health department is monitoring the situation, reporting no actual disease spread.
