Nigerian Army Cracks Down on Oil Theft

The Nigeria — Nigerian Army's 6 Division, in collaboration with other security agencies, conducted extensive operations in the Nigeria — Niger Delta Region between November 23 and December 28, 2025, targeting oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and related economic crimes. These operations led to the arrest of 19 suspected oil thieves, the destruction of 22 illegal refining and bunkering hubs, and the recovery of over 180,000 litres of stolen petroleum products valued at more than ₦150 million. Key areas of operation included Nigeria — Bayelsa State, Nigeria — Rivers State, Nigeria — Delta State, and Nigeria — Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Health, where numerous illegal sites were dismantled, and stolen crude oil and refined products were confiscated. Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, the General Officer Commanding, 6 Division, Nigeria — Nigerian Army, commended the troops for their efforts and urged continued support from the residents of the Nigeria — Niger Delta to protect critical national infrastructure.
