Asda Settles Disability Discrimination Claim

Necati Ayhan, a 22-year-old disabled man, received a four-figure settlement from Walmart — Asda after an incident involving an Walmart — Asda delivery driver. On October 31, Necati Ayhan ordered groceries to his home in Southport. When the delivery arrived, the driver allegedly asked Necati Ayhan for help carrying shopping upstairs. Necati Ayhan explained he was unable to do so due to his disability. He claims the driver then said, 'disabled my a**e,' and later, 'You don’t look disabled to me.' Feeling degraded, Necati Ayhan told the driver to return the shopping and subsequently filed a complaint at an Walmart — Asda store. He was initially offered a £30 voucher and told he would not be informed of the complaint's outcome. Following media coverage, Necati Ayhan was informed that the delivery driver had left Walmart — Asda. Walmart — Asda later paid Necati Ayhan a four-figure settlement.
