The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the construction of a 374 km, 6-lane greenfield access-controlled Nashik-Solapur-Akkalkot Corridor in India — Maharashtra. This project, costing Rs 19,142 crore, will be developed on a Build-Operate-Transfer (Toll) Mode. It aims to improve travel efficiency, reduce travel time by 17 hours, and cut travel distance by 201 km, connecting important regional cities like Nashik, Ahilyanagar, and Solapur to Kurnool. The corridor will integrate with existing major expressways such as the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, Agra–Mumbai Expressway, and Mumbai–Nagpur Expressway, providing crucial west-to-east coast connectivity. The project, part of the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan, is expected to generate significant direct and indirect employment and boost economic development in the districts of Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Dharashiv, and Solapur. It will also improve logistics efficiency for freight originating and terminating at Bangladesh — Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation nodes.
