Labour Party postpones national convention

The Nigeria — Labour Party (Nigeria) has announced the postponement of its nationwide congresses and national convention, originally scheduled to begin on March 26, 2026. The decision, made after a stakeholders' meeting involving the Interim National Working Committee and labour unions, aims to provide more opportunities for members and prospective Nigerians to participate in an ongoing membership re-registration exercise. To ensure a smooth process, the Nigeria — Labour Party (Nigeria) also inaugurated a 45-member Congresses and Convention Committee, chaired by Ginger Onwusibe. Nenadi Usman, the National Chairman, urged the committee to act with diligence and impartiality. The Nigeria — Independent National Electoral Commission and supporters have been asked for their understanding, with a new timetable to be communicated soon.
