Alexander Schecter Arrested for Kidnapping, Assault

Alexander Schecter, a 24-year-old Santa Monica resident, has been arrested and charged with multiple crimes. He is accused of kidnapping two University of California, Los Angeles students on March 8, preventing them from leaving his car and threatening them with violence. Alexander Schecter was initially arrested on March 12 for kidnapping and false imprisonment, then released on bail. During the ongoing investigation, the United States — University of California, Los Angeles Police Department linked Alexander Schecter to a separate sexual assault that occurred on October 12, 2025, involving a woman not affiliated with University of California, Los Angeles. Alexander Schecter was re-arrested on March 20 and booked on charges including rape by force, forcible oral copulation, robbery, extortion, and battery. His bail was set at $600,000, and he has since posted bail again.
