Afghanistan-Pakistan Border Clashes Resume

Renewed fighting has erupted along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan after a temporary ceasefire expired. Pakistani forces fired artillery shells into Afghanistan's Kunar province, killing two civilians and wounding eight. Afghan border forces retaliated, claiming to have destroyed Pakistani military posts and killed one person. This violence follows earlier Pakistani airstrikes in Afghanistan, which the Afghan Taliban government claimed hit a drug rehabilitation hospital, killing over 400 people, a claim Pakistan denies, stating it targeted an ammunition depot. The Pakistani Taliban (TTP), allied with the Afghan Taliban, has also resumed attacks inside Pakistan. Pakistan accuses Afghanistan of sheltering TTP leaders, a charge Afghanistan denies, while Pakistan vows to continue targeting TTP until Afghanistan ensures its soil is not used for attacks. Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar had previously mediated a temporary halt to hostilities.
