The expansion of Nigeria's clean mobility strategy to include electric vehicles, approved by Bola Tinubu, is expected to positively impact the automotive and energy sectors by increasing demand for related infrastructure and services. This initiative, involving entities like CreditCorp Nigeria, aims to lower transportation costs and strengthen energy security, potentially leading to a more stable economic environment in Nigeria.
President Bola Tinubu has approved the expansion of the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (PiCNG) to include electric vehicles, renaming it the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (PiCNG & EV). This initiative aims to lead and coordinate Nigeria's clean mobility strategy, covering both gas-driven and electric vehicles nationwide. Bola Tinubu has directed Ismail Ahmed, the Executive Chairman of PiCNG & EV, to establish a process for the rapid deployment of affordable vehicle conversion kits and to accelerate the deployment of Mobile Refuelling Units. The initiative will collaborate with CreditCorp Nigeria, financial institutions, and other partners to develop cost-effective financing structures for vehicle conversions. This move is intended to leverage Nigeria's abundant gas resources to lower costs, strengthen energy security, conserve foreign exchange, and promote environmentally responsible mobility.
