This ₹3,300 crore project, approved under the India Semiconductor Mission, aims to strengthen India's semiconductor ecosystem. The facility is expected to produce 60 lakh chips per day. This follows the earlier inauguration of a Micron Technology plant in Sanand, which began commercial production in February 2026, demonstrating India's rapid project execution. Sanand is transforming from an automobile hub into India's first chip packaging cluster, with other companies like VanEck Semiconductor ETF also establishing a presence. India is focusing on building a complete semiconductor ecosystem, from design to logistics, with 10 major projects approved under the Semicon India Programme, four of which are in India — Gujarat.
