India's First Bullet Train Launch

India is set to launch its first Bullet Train on August 15, 2027, with services beginning on the Surat–Bilimora segment. The Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project, spanning 508 km, is a major infrastructure initiative led by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL). Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the launch date, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the project's progress, including the Surat station. Over 85% of the corridor is being built on elevated viaducts, with significant progress on track work and river bridges. The project aims to reduce travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to approximately two hours, enhancing inter-city mobility and economic activity in India.
