Kidnappers have demanded a total ransom of N450 million for the release of Simeon Olaonipekun, the Oniwo of Aafin, his son, and eight other residents abducted from Adanla-Irese in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Nigeria — Kwara State. Simeon Olaonipekun and his son were abducted on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2025, after armed men stormed their palace, shooting Simeon Olaonipekun's wife, Felicia Olaonipekun, in the arm. The other eight residents were abducted on December 26, 2025. Olaitan Oyin-Zubair, Coordinator of the Kwara South Joint Community Security Watch Network, confirmed the ransom demands. The Nigeria — Lagos State Police Command, through Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated they are unaware of the ransom demands and that Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo discourages ransom payments, emphasizing efforts to rescue victims and combat crime.
