Israel Bans Gaza Aid Groups

Israel has suspended 37 foreign humanitarian organizations, including Médecins Sans Frontières, from operating in the Gaza Strip and occupied West Bank. This ban, effective March 1, was imposed after the organizations refused to share lists of their Palestinian employees with Israeli officials, citing international humanitarian law and concerns for employee safety. UN Secretary-General António Guterres has called for Israel to reverse this measure, warning that it will further exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, where nearly 80% of buildings have been destroyed and 1.5 million residents displaced since the war following Hamas's October 7, 2023, attack. Several nations, including Qatar, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, have also expressed deep concern over the deteriorating conditions and urged Israel to lift restrictions on aid.
