Claire s and The Original Factory Shop, both owned by Modella Capital, have entered administration in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, putting approximately 2,500 jobs at risk. Modella Capital stated that 'last-ditch' efforts to save the businesses failed, making administration the 'only option.' The firm cited challenging retail conditions, including weak consumer confidence, adverse government fiscal policies, and continued cost inflation, as contributing factors. Interpath Advisory is expected to handle the administration for The Original Factory Shop, while Kroll will manage the process for Claire s. Both retailers will keep their shops open while administrators search for new buyers. Claire s had previously filed for bankruptcy in the United States, and Modella Capital had acquired parts of both chains last year after previous restructurings.
