The re-launch was first announced during Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar's visit to Bangladesh — Dhaka Division in August last year, marking the first high-level engagement in over a decade. This resumption of flights comes amid warming diplomatic and economic ties between Bangladesh and Pakistan, following the ouster of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 2024, which also saw relations between Bangladesh and India turn frosty. Cargo ship sailings between Pakistan — Karachi and Bangladesh — Chittagong Division also resumed in November 2024, further indicating growing trade and cultural exchanges.
