Saudi Arabia Accuses UAE of Smuggling Aidarous al-Zubaidi

Saudi Arabia has accused the United Arab Emirates of smuggling Aidarous al-Zubaidi, the leader of the Southern Transitional Council, out of Yemen after he was charged with treason for attempting to secede southern Yemen. This incident has significantly escalated tensions between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, leading to a breakdown in their partnership in the Yemen war. Saudi Arabia has launched airstrikes against the Southern Transitional Council and an arms shipment it claims originated from the United Arab Emirates. The Southern Transitional Council, backed by the United Arab Emirates, has been pushing for secession, further destabilizing Yemen, which is already suffering from a severe humanitarian crisis. The Houthis, an Iranian-backed rebel group, continues to control parts of Yemen and has launched attacks on shipping in the Red Sea, adding to regional instability. The United States has also been involved, conducting airstrikes against the Houthis.
