This particular copy has a storied history, having been purchased by Nicolas Cage in 1996 for $150,000, stolen from his home in 2000, and recovered in 2011. After its recovery, Nicolas Cage sold it at auction for $2.2 million. Experts from Metropolis Collectibles/ComicConnect noted that the theft and subsequent recovery significantly boosted the comic's value, likening its iconic status to that of the Mona Lisa.
