Specifically, AI Overviews gave simplified numerical ranges for liver blood tests without considering crucial variables like age, sex, ethnicity, or nationality, which health experts warned could lead to incorrect self-assessment. Following The Guardian's report, Alphabet Inc. removed AI Overviews for searches such as 'what is the normal range for liver blood tests' and 'what is the normal range for liver function tests.' However, variations of these queries initially still triggered AI summaries. Alphabet Inc. stated it does not comment on individual removals but works on broader improvements, with an internal team of clinicians reviewing the queries and finding the information was often not inaccurate and supported by high-quality websites. Vanessa Hebditch of the British Liver Trust welcomed the removal but expressed ongoing concerns about the wider use of AI Overviews for health-related searches. This incident is not the first time Alphabet Inc.'s AI Overviews have faced criticism for inaccuracies.
