Artificial Intelligence (AI) emerged as the primary driver for hiring in India in 2025, with 290,256 AI-linked roles posted. The report by Foundit projects a further 32% year-on-year growth in AI hiring for 2026, reaching nearly 3.8 lakh roles. Overall hiring activity in India rose 15% year-on-year and 5% month-on-month in December 2025, indicating a shift from cautious recovery to measured expansion. Tarun Sharma of Foundit highlighted AI's central role in workforce planning. IT-Software and Services held the largest share of AI jobs at 37%, followed by BFSI (15.8%) and Manufacturing (6%). Generative AI and LLM skills showed the fastest growth, with demand rising nearly 60% year-on-year. India — Bengaluru maintained its lead in AI jobs, while India — Hyderabad recorded the fastest Tier 1 growth, and India — Jaipur, India — Indore, and India — Mysore led Tier 2 gains. The job market showed strong growth in mid-level and senior mid-tier brackets.
