This funding, approved by President Bola Tinubu, aims to support infrastructure development, improve teaching and learning, strengthen research capacity, and advance innovation. Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of Nigeria — Tertiary Education Trust Fund, detailed the disbursement, with universities receiving N2.525 billion each, polytechnics N1.871 billion each, and colleges of education N2.056 billion each. The Nigeria — Tertiary Education Trust Fund also introduced the Nigerian Research and Education Network (NgREN) to enhance access to global academic resources and integrate the Tertiary Education, Research, Applications and Services (TERAS) platform. Institutions were cautioned against delayed project approvals and underutilization of funds, with future allocations tied to performance.
