India NEET-PG Cut-Offs Revised

The India — National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has revised the qualifying percentiles for NEET-PG 2025 admissions, reducing them significantly, including to zero percentile for reserved categories. This decision was made after over 18,000 postgraduate medical seats remained vacant following Round-2 counselling. The aim is to ensure optimal utilization of available seats, expand India's pool of trained medical specialists, and improve healthcare delivery. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) had formally requested this revision, citing the urgent need to prevent seat wastage. The NBEMS clarified that admissions will remain strictly merit-based through authorized counselling, with no dilution of academic standards, as the revised percentile merely expands eligibility among already-qualified MBBS doctors. The IMA expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Health Minister Jagad Prakash Nadda for their intervention.
