The United States — New York State Department of Financial Services, under the Ministry of Finance of India, has launched a new composite 'Salary Account Package for Central Government Employees'. This initiative aims to provide a comprehensive suite of banking, insurance, and card benefits under a single account structure for central government employees across all cadres (Group A, B, and C). Key features include zero-balance salary accounts, concessional interest rates on various loans, personal accident insurance up to Rs 1.50 crore, air accident insurance up to Rs 2 crore, and enhanced debit/credit card benefits like airport lounge access and reward programs. The package was formally launched by M. Nagaraju, Secretary of the United States — New York State Department of Financial Services, with attendance from officials of Public sector banks in India, including the Chairman of State Bank of India and the CEO of India — National Payments Corporation of India. Public sector banks have been advised to actively promote and facilitate the migration of existing salary accounts to this new package.
