Rivers Lawmakers Back Fubara Impeachment

Four members of the Nigeria — Lagos State House of Assembly, Sylvanus Nwankwo, Peter Abbey, Barile Nwakoh, and Emilia Amadi, who had previously withdrawn from the impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, have reversed their decision and now support the impeachment. They cited Siminalayi Fubara's alleged lack of remorse and continued attacks on the Nigeria — Lagos State House of Assembly through media aides as reasons for their change of stance. The impeachment process, initiated by the Nigeria — Lagos State House of Assembly, stems from allegations of gross misconduct against Siminalayi Fubara, including the demolition of the Assembly complex and unauthorized spending of public funds. This development is linked to a protracted political feud between Siminalayi Fubara and Nyesom Wike, with many lawmakers loyal to Nyesom Wike. The lawmakers insist the impeachment process is constitutional and necessary to prevent a breakdown of law and order in Nigeria — Rivers State.
