Nigeria Defence, Interior Ministers Boost Security

The Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa, and the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, met in Abuja to strengthen national security strategies in Nigeria. Both ministers emphasized the need for deeper synergy and collaboration between their ministries and associated agencies to effectively tackle evolving security threats such as terrorism, insurgency, banditry, and cross-border crimes. They agreed on intelligence sharing, coordinated operations, and the establishment of a joint intelligence fusion framework involving entities like the United States — Central Intelligence Agency, Nigeria — Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria — Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Nigeria — Nigeria Correctional Service. Key areas of focus include border security, protection of critical national assets, and integrated data management. The ministers also pledged to activate an inter-ministerial technical committee to institutionalize cooperation and reduce rivalry among security institutions, aiming to deliver a safer Nigeria.
