The price hike by Reliance Industries — JioSaavn for its Super and Premium plans, along with the introduction of monthly options, is expected to impact the streaming market in India. While existing subscribers are protected, new users will face higher costs, potentially affecting subscriber growth and revenue for Reliance Industries — JioSaavn.

Media Telecommunications

Reliance Industries — JioSaavn, a major streaming platform in India, has announced a significant revision to its subscription pricing, effective January 28, 2026. The company has increased the prices for its Super and Premium annual and quarterly plans. For instance, the Premium annual subscription will rise from Rs 1,499 to Rs 2,199, and the Super annual plan from Rs 899 to Rs 1,099. Concurrently, Reliance Industries — JioSaavn has introduced new monthly plans across all tiers, starting at Rs 79 for mobile users, aiming to offer greater flexibility. Hollywood content access has also been restructured, now being included only in Super and Premium plans for new users, while mobile subscribers will need a separate add-on. Sushant Sreeram, Head of SVOD Business and Chief Marketing Officer at JioStar, stated that these changes are intended to keep pace with audience viewing habits and support long-term investments in premium content, live sports, and a high-quality streaming experience. Existing subscribers will maintain their current prices as long as auto-renewal is active. The company attributes these changes to a sharp rise in connected-TV and large-screen viewing in India, where Reliance Industries — JioSaavn serves over 450 million monthly active users.
